Flashback Friday: Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Avant
It was all good just a week ago. Now we’re apparently three steps away from the first season of The Walking Dead.
I’m already tired of this Rona virus hysteria.
Let me settle my nerves and revisit a few old faves. Join me.
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, E. 1999 Eternal (1995)
Bone Thugs, and specifically “1st of tha Month,” is one of those groups that’s indelibly linked to my hip-hop fandom. I’m a lifelong music fan, of course, but it was the mid-90s that truly hooked me for good. And when it came to Bone, I was captivated by their charisma, lyrical gymnastics and they’re incredible ability to harmonize. They could really do it all – and it’s no surprise their sophomore set was such a massive hit.

Avant, My Thoughts (2000)
Earlier this week in the Soul In Stereo Cypher on Facebook, we had an impromptu Avant Appreciation Day. And I’m not mad at it. Though he often gets overlooked, Avant had more than a few R&B hits throughout the 2000s, and his debut set the tone for that success.
