Kirk Franklin, Hero (2005)

Kirk Franklin has been behind the helm of several gospel classics but his 2005 release still stands among my favorites. He’s a master of blending contemporary and traditional sounds, pushing his music in new directions and, most importantly, toward new audiences.

The Preacher’s Wife Soundtrack (1996)

Whitney Houston’s voice was MADE for gospel. Her immaculate vocals pushed this set to become the best selling gospel album of all time, as well as being a timeless soundtrack for one of the 90s best movies. This is essentially an undercover Whitney solo album, one that does her legacy justice.
