Flashback Friday: BOSCO and Abra
Usually this is the time of the week where we reminisce about forgotten favorites and long-lost gems.
This week though, instead of looking back, let’s look forward. Allow me to introduce you to two artists whose names may not ring bells yet but could become breakout stars very soon.
BOSCO, BOY (2015)
I’ve gotta thank Issa Rae’s Insecure soundtrack for this great find. Atlanta singer BOSCO’s single “Gold Ghost” was featured on an early episode of HBO’s Insecure and it immediately caught my attention. Ask my wife – I paused the show and went on a mad Internet hunt for the track. “Gold Ghost” is the centerpiece of BOSCO’s EP BOY and, despite its brevity, the EP has remained in my rotation ever since.

Abra, Rose (2015)
Atlanta singer/songwriter/producer Abra knows her music history. Rose is a refreshing blend of 80s pop and 90s R&B, resulting in a sound that deftly balances nostalgia and progression. Abra rarely shies away from heavy themes, so Rose is much more thorny than her watercolored album cover may suggest. But it’s her honesty that keeps us captivated.
