Flashback Friday: Total and The Braxtons
Since I’ve rambled about the lack of male R&B groups in today’s music scene already this week, I figured we’d dedicate Friday to female R&B groups.
Total (1996)
Every group signed to Bad Boy Records in the mid-90s was guaranteed a platinum plaque. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Poor Total gets overlooked today but they were ever-present on the ’90s R&B scene, cranking out hit after hit. Tracks from their debut still get the club poppin today.

The Braxtons, So Many Ways (1996)
Before they were clogging up reality TV, Trina, Tamar and Towanda dropped the siblings’ first and only group album in 1996, which yielded a couple of minor hits. The album’s other content was pretty solid as well. There have been rumors of a reunion album for awhile now — if it sounds this good, sign me up.
