You wanna know what ’90s hip hop has over today’s rap?
Passion.
You can hear it in the lyrics. You can witness it in the concepts.
There’s a reason why B.I.G. and Pac’s lyrics are still being recycled today. We can feel their passion.
So give props to DJ Kay Slay for rekindling that passion with “90s Flow.” He’s gathered members from the biggest groups of the 90s – Terror Squad, The Wu-Tang Clan, The LOX, Children of the Corn, C-N-N, M.O.P. and Mobb Deep – for a lyrical free-for-all.
I’m not a big fan of Rell’s hook but even his annoying crooning is vintage ’90s. It’s certainly appropriate.
Throw on your bubble goose, unlace your Tims and vibe to this one.
