Flashback Friday: Big Pun and The Roots
It’s the first Friday of 2014, but nothing’s changed here. It’s still the day where we look back at forgotten favorites. Here are a couple of hits to usher in your weekend.
Big Pun, Capital Punishment (1998)
It’s been almost 15 years since the Big Punisher walked the Earth and no one can touch the wordplay of this lyrical titan. Everyone remembers his breakout remix single with Joe but I actually prefer the original (and much raunchier) track. Pun’s flow is still unmatched.

The Roots, Things Fall Apart (1999)
The Roots boasts an air-tight catalog of hits throughout the years but their late 90s set is by far my favorite. Their collabo with Erykah Badu has become their signature song and that album cover is absolutely iconic.
