Flashback Friday: Wyclef Jean and Ghostface Killah
Hey, it’s Friday the 13th, if you care about that thing.
Eh. I only care that it’s Friday – and that we have hot albums to share. Check them out.
Charles Clark goes to The Carnival.
Wyclef Jean, The Carnival (1998)
Charles said: “This album had me from the first track! My friend let me borrow it before I went to MEPs (Military Processing Center for new recruits) and I didn’t return it to him until I got back from Basic Training six months later. The music, the skits and the overall fun of the whole album kept me going during that difficult process of joining the military. First album I could listen from the first track on without skipping a track.”
Also check out:
“Gone till November”
“Guantanamera,” featuring Celia Cruz, Jeni Fujita and Lauryn Hill
Edward has a taste for Fishscale.
Ghostface Killah, Fishscale (2006)
Edd said: “GFK has so many great albums that it’s nearly impossible to pick a favorite. If you had to twist my arm, though, this would be near the top of the heap. Most rappers have a short shelf life – they crank out a couple of good albums before declining. Five albums into his career, Ghost was still producing quality work. Seven years later, that hasn’t changed.”
Also check out:
“Kilo,” featuring Raekwon
“Jellyfish,” featuring Cappadonna, Shawn Wigs, & Trife
