Flashback Friday: Beyonce and Big L

The best part about Fridays – besides getting cozy with the weekend – is when you guys share your favorite tracks with readers. It’s always the highlight of the week.

Check out these oldies but goodies.

We haven’t heard from Kim Jackson in awhile. She’s been hanging out in the Beyhive.

Beyonce, I Am…Sasha Fierce (2008)

Kim said:  “My choice for a throwback album is Beyonce’s third CD I Am … Sasha Fierce. With songs such as “Halo,” and the song of 2008 “Single Ladies,” Queen Bey could not go wrong. It also did not hurt that she had two CDs for both her personalities: Beyonce and Sasha Fierce.”

Edward wonders what could have been.

Big L, Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous (1995)

Edd said: “One of hip-hop’s biggest ‘What If’s’ is this: ‘What if Big L wasn’t murdered in 1999? Would he be as big as Jay-Z today?’ I seriously doubt he’d replace Jay but L definitely would be one of the game’s most revered veterans in 2013. His 1995 debut proves he was way ahead of his time, using wordplay and concepts that were light-years ahead of his peers. He might not be known to the masses but real hip hop heads respect the groundwork L laid.”
