Flashback Friday: Ahmad and Kindred The Family Soul
I don’t know about you playas but it feels like I had to kick, fight, scratch and claw to make it to this Friday.
That alone is cause for celebration. Let’s do just that with these throwbacks.
Some days Amanda Burrus sits and wishes she was a kid again.
Ahmad (1994)
Amanda said: “Ahmad’s ‘Back In The Day’ had a smooth beat to it. It’s one of few songs that is laid back but is still considered a JAM! Lol! Whenever I play this song (on repeat for hours) it instantly puts me in the mood to kick back with a glass of strawberry lemonade, pull out an old XXL Magazine and damn near try and spit a verse myself! Lol. Awesome awesome song.”

Kindred The Family Soul, Surrender to Love (2003)
Edd said: “Kindred might not be what the music industry wants right now, but Lord knows it’s what the industry needs. Fatin Dantzler and Aja Graydon are like the cool married couple in your church choir, down to earth but filled with energy and wisdom. Their 2003 debut generated a slight buzz but it was worthy of so much more. Their lessons on love, life and family still resonate today. We need more grown folks’ music like this.”
