Flashback Friday: Das EFX and Jean Grae
We’re reached yet another Friday and I’d like to thank all of you for submitting such great albums each and every week. Your entries make this column very fun to write – mostly because I spend so much time listening instead or writing.
If you’d like to submit your faves, just hit me at the email address provided below. Contribute to my weekly procrastination.
Charles Clark wants EFX.
Das EFX, Dead Serious (1992)
Charles said: “I’ve always known that Das EFX said random phrases in their song “They Want EFX,” but I’m actually listening to what they are saying right now and they are off the wall with their comments.”

Edward reminds us that female rappers aren’t all gimmicks.
Jean Grae, Jeanius (2008)
Edd said: “If your first rap album was Tha Carter III, I can understand why you might think 99% of female rappers are untalented. But many of us know better. Jean Grae has been quietly dropping fantastic albums for years. Jeanius is Jean at her best, thanks to mad scientist 9th Wonder’s vision behind the boards. But don’t sell Jeanie short. Male or female, she’s one of the best in the game. Plus, you gotta love her album cover tributes. Look familiar?”
