Flashback Friday: Another Bad Creation and Faith Evans

Come on, weekend! It’s Friday, so let’s end the week with a bang.

Georgia Mae fan Charles Clark takes us back to the playground.

Another Bad Creation, Coolin’ At The Playground Ya Know! (1991)

Charles said: “Another Bad Creation: no matter how much you try to fight it, you can’t help but sing along with their songs. Especially “Iesha” and “Playground.”  My mom hated when I played their CD, called them “ABC, 123 or whatever.”

Edward gets all sentimental.

Faith Evans, Faithfully (2001)

Edd said: I’m not usually one to get mushy about music. While some songs put people in the mood for romance or helps them reminisce, I listen to everything mechanically. It’s all about the melodies and lyrics for me – I’m a critic through and through. That wasn’t the case for Faith’s third album. It dropped a few weeks before Thanksgiving during my first year in Louisville, Ky. I was pretty down at the time – it was my first holiday away from home and I wasn’t excited about having to spend it in the office. Even though my friends and family were nearly 1,000 miles away, there was something about this album that was very comforting. I still can’t put my finger on it but it had an intangible that helped me through a pretty tough period. It still holds a lot of meeting. And of course, Analytical Critic Edd loved the album too – every track is a hit.

  1. Okay, so now that I have rematches this video (I was listening to the cd earlier this week), I noticed a lot of things that back then I wouldn’t have cared about. 1) why were they trying to do Boys II Men dances? 2) were they trying to be out of sync with each other while dancing together? 3) I know Michael Bivens was the producer but was he trying to make them a younger New Edition? 4) Redd looked pretty special as a kid, like a young Lil Wayne.

  2. That ‘Jealous Girl’ video is unintentional comedy. Who knew Another Bad Creation were the original shirtless R&B thugs?
