Flashback Friday: Christion and Puff Daddy

Good news – it’s Friday!

Better news – it’s time for our weekly treat, Flashback Friday. Ready to reminisce?

Back from a three-week break, Georgia Mae’s boss lady shares this gem.

Christion, Ghetto Cyrano (1997)

Jai said: For some foolish reason I didn’t buy this album back in the late ’90s when tracks like “Full of Smoke” and “I Wanna Get Next to You” were in heavy rotation on the radio. (Remember when there was real R&B on the radio?) But now that it’s finally in my collection I can’t get enough.

Puff Daddy & the Family, No Way Out (1997)

Edd said: I love how Diddy made sure to give credit to “The Family” here – there is no way Puffy could mumble and ad-lib his way through an entire album. That was a pretty brilliant business move in retrospect. Bad Boy Records’ roster was unmatched at the time with The LOX, 112, Faith Evans, Black Rob, a posthumous Notorious B.I.G., and ugh, even Mase. Bringing in heavy hitters like Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes and Lil Kim made the album an all-star affair. Biggie’s beyond-the-grave raps alone are enough to give this set top marks. Puff can be an insufferable human being but he certainly has an ear for talent and he’s wise enough to surround himself with the best.
