Flashback Friday: Wicker Park soundtrack and Missy Elliott
The weekend is upon us! Let’s celebrate early.
Wicker Park soundtrack (2004)
Based on the French film L’Appartement, Wicker Park is one of my favorite movies of all time. And the soundtrack is just as good as this compelling as this psychological drama. Featuring tracks by the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Mates of State, Stereophonics and a cover of Coldplay’s “The Scientist” this CD is in rotation at least once a month.

“These Days,” Mates of State
What album is getting Edward through his day?
Missy Elliott, Da Real World (1999)
Edd said: If I had three wishes, I’d wish for:
1. An endless supply of Sour Patch Kids
2. A new pair of jeans for Lil Wayne, so he can stop wearing women’s tights
3. A new Missy Elliott album.
I’m not holding my breath on the first two wishes. As I await the third, I’ll listen to Missy’s classics to bide my time. Her debut 1997, Supa Dupa Fly, is probably among my top 10 favorite albums and I couldn’t wait for her follow-up. Da Real World slightly disappointed me at the time, simply because it was darker and not as groundbreaking as her debut. I shouldn’t have sold it short back then – more than 10 years later Da Real World is still light-years ahead of everything in 2011. It’s weird how we took for granted artists who weren’t afraid to be different and push boundaries. Missy, please come back!
