Flashback Friday: The Jets and Smif-N-Wessun
Yo, it’s Friday! Time to do what we do around this time.
F L A S H B A C K!
The Jets (1985)
If you’ve been keeping up with this season of TV One’s Unsung, this pick was obvious. The Jets are the epitome of unsung – I had forgotten just how many hits they racked up over their relatively brief run. Their debut is really one of the forgotten gems of 80s R&B.

My guys the Cocoa Brovaz recently dropped their new album, The All – their first offering in almost a decade. And they haven’t lost a step. It made me want to revisit their ’95 debut, which not only kicked open the doors for the revered supergroup Boot Camp Clik, but on a personal note, was part of my transition from casual hip-hop fan to obsessed super stan.
