Guilty Pleasures: Desmond Dennis, Johnny Johnny Yes Papa (R&B Remix)
We all have guilty pleasures, those songs that have no business on our iPods or the tracks we only blast with the windows rolled all the way up in our rides. In this column we share our darkest musical secrets.
One of the perks of being childless by choice is not having to listen to those mind-numbing children’s songs toddlers are obsessed with.
But shout out to Desmond Dennis, who is making life a whole lot easier for grown folks.
The singer has amassed quite a following on YouTube thanks to his R&B remixes of old nursery rhymes. My dude Luke James (Not The Singer) dropped this off in the Soul In Stereo Cypher last week and I’ve been playing it nonstop ever since. I had never ever heard of the Johnny Johnny nursery rhyme until last week, now it’s my song. No wonder kids get hooked on this stuff.
Yes, I’m a grown man dancing to a remix of a kids song. STOP JUDGING ME. Listen below and you will be too.
