Flashback Friday: Lil Wayne and H-Town
Happy Friday, fam! Here’s some fresh throwbacks to get you through another sweltering summer day.
Lil Wayne, Tha Carter IV (2011)
Now that Lil Wayne’s contract issues have finally cleared up, there’s been a little buzz online about Weezy finally – FINALLY – releasing his eternally-delayed Carter 5 album pretty soon. Wishful thinking? Probably. While we’re on the subject, I think Tha Carter IV might deserve another look. It wasn’t nearly as successful as previous installments but I thought it was pretty solid – much better than the albums that followed it for sure.

H-Town, Ladies Edition, Woman’s World (1997)
After years of treating women like their playthings, the homies from H-Town decided to mature a bit on their third album, which aimed to be more respectful and compassionate to womanhood. Sadly, treating women like human beings wasn’t really the wave in 1997, so this release was overlooked. It had its high points, though, check it out.
