Flashback Friday: Silk and Nas & Damian Marley

Yo, it’s finally Friday! That means it’s time to revisit two awesome albums. Throw these on to help get through your day.

Silk, Lose Control (1992)

Oh you knew this was coming after TV One featured my boys on UnSung this past Tuesday. Add Silk to that list of R&B pioneers who rarely get their due. Their debut was a double-platinum smash hit featuring not one, but TWO songs that would be heralded as R&B classics. Man, I miss this kind of R&B.

Nas and Damian Marley, Distant Relatives (2010)

It seems like we’ve been waiting for a new Nas LP  FOREVER. My impatience caused me to revisit Esco’s surprisingly great collabo with Damian Marley. I say “surprising” not because of a lack of talent on either side but it’s astonishing how well these drastically different artists gelled. Do yourself a favor and give this a spin.
