Flashback Friday: Jadakiss and The Tony Rich Project
Happy Friday, playas. We’ve got a mix of R&B and hip-hop for your morning playlists today. I’m sure you remember these:
Jadakiss, Kiss Tha Game Goodbye (2001)
After a half decade of hype, Jadakiss is FINALLY delivering his new album in a few weeks. I can’t think of a better opportunity to revisit his debut album, Kiss Tha Game Goodbye. It was pretty polarizing upon its release — it wasn’t the classic many fans were expecting. Still, it was extremely strong and has only gotten better with age. If you weren’t a fan of it in 2001, give it another shot today.

The Tony Rich Project, Words (1996)
I’ll be honest with y’all – I was never a big fan of Tony Rich’s massive hit, “Nobody Knows.” You think “Hotline Bling” is overplayed now? In 1996 we heard this ballad every 45 minutes on urban radio. EVERY HOUR, ON THE HOUR. Of course, that’s not a shot against Tony Rich’s talent or his bluesy debut album. It’s still one of my wife’s favorites.
