Listen Up: Sean Armstrong, “Took Control”
Looking for quality rap? You don’t have to look much further than home.
Well, my home, that is.
Sean Armstrong, also known as DJ Face, hails from the DMV area – that’s the District of Columbia/Maryland/Virginia region, for the uninformed. Since he’s from my stomping grounds, he already gets my co-sign.
And after hearing “Took Control,” you’ll be a fan too.
Produced by the criminally underrated !llmind, “Took Control” is all that’s right about hip-hop – it’s poignant, uplifting and a head-nodder to boot. The track, which features Tajai of Souls of Mischief and vocals from pHoenix Pagliacci, is the first single from The Marble Cake Diaries mixtape, which drops November 19.
One listen and you’ll see why I’m so proud of my Va heritage.
