Guilty Pleasures: Debbie Gibson, Foolish Beat

We all have guilty pleasures, those songs that have no business on our iPods or the tracks we only blast with the windows up. In this column we share our darkest musical secrets.

Big shout out to Sheree Martin (@RealSheree) for sharing this gem from sometimes pop singer/sometimes actress Debbie Gibson.

This video is so unabashedly ’80s. Women in oversized blazers and weird hats, singers staring in the mirror singing to themselves – all we need is someone getting covered in green slime while wearing a fanny pack.

But between me and you, I kinda liked this song too. You aren’t alone, Sheree. Check it out.

What’s your guilty pleasure? Email soulinstereoblog@gmail.com, hit me up on Twitter @etbowser, or stop by the comments section and share your guilty pleasures. Leave a sentence or two and I’ll share your selection in a future column.

  1. Hey, for real..I had a thing for Debbie Gibson back in the day, even with that nose (wasn’t as bad as Mayim Bylik’s nose from Blossom). Electric Youth was my jam for a bit. I thought Tiffany was hotter though cause of the red hair.
