Support WBHM 90.3 FM and Show Public Radio Some Love
It’s probably no surprise that I’ve long had a love affair with radio.
That love isn’t just contained to listening to Keith Sweat on urban stations in the ’80s. I also grew up on public radio.
My dad’s a huge fan of public radio. Most of the memories I have of riding in my dad’s old pickup are punctuated by the sounds of commentators weighing in on political topics. You might think that would bore a kid more interested in Ninja Turtles than Ollie North but that wasn’t the case. I was captivated.
And that’s why I’m honored to support WBHM 90.3 FM, Birmingham’s NPR affiliate, in their fundraising efforts. The WBHM Fall 2013 Membership Campaign is going on now through Oct. 19. I’d love for you to join me.
I know many of our readers aren’t in Birmingham – some aren’t even in this country (shout out to my peoples in Nigeria and London. You are appreciated). But if you read this blog, that means you support quality music and freedom of speech. That’s what WBHM represents. And with your help, it will continue for years to come.
How do you donate? Simply visit my pledge page here. Donations of ANY amount are appreciated.
On Tuesday, Oct. 15 I’ll be on air between 4 and 6 p.m. Central time to help raise support for the station. I’ll be joined by my beautiful wife Javacia Harris Bowser, founder of See Jane Write Magazine and creator of this blog’s predecessor, GeorgiaMae.com. I promise I won’t misbehave on the air. Maybe.
Thanks in advance for your support!
