Flashback Friday: Digable Planets and Robin Thicke
We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Whether you’re at work, at home, or fighting the mall crowds, here are some songs to get you through the day.
Ashantiblu is cool like that:
Digable Planets, Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time and Space) (1993)
Ashantiblu nominated this album, specifically the classic single “Rebirth of Slick,” saying: “It reminds of me of the long bus ride(s) to high school – it always helped me escape to another world.”

Javacia revisits Robin Thicke:
Thicke, A Beautiful World (2003)
Jai said: Last week Georgia Mae reader Kimberly Jackson shared her love for Robin Thicke’s album The Evolution of Robin Thicke, the album that would eventually earn him the commercial success he’d sought for years. But my favorite Thicke CD is (and probably always will be) his debut album A Beautiful World, which most people don’t even know about. It was released back when he was only going by the name Thicke and he looked like a grungy Jesus (see the video below). A Beautiful World is so soulful and unique that I can’t believe it didn’t climb the charts. Luckily the world wised up and gave Thicke the love he deserved by his second release.
