STOP and Pay Attention to the Signs!

The Real Housewives of Atlanta season finale showed everyone the importance of marrying for the right reasons.  Maybe the creative editing of the footage has a lot to do with the “signs” that we saw and Cynthia ignored. She ran pass a Stop sign while crying and running to the park for refuge. The morning of her wedding she wore a T-shirt featuring comedic legend Redd Foxx (as Fred G. Sanford) with his classic line “You Big Dummy!” Her dearest family members hid her marriage license. The groom “forgot” to purchase wedding bands, and the couple could not afford to meet a $3,000 obligation for the wedding. Financial fears aside, Cynthia and her fiancé were missing some essential relationship basics—communication and support.

Weeks prior to the wedding, Cynthia learned that her soon-to-be husband sold his business—including the portion that her savings and finances went to cover—without her knowledge, support, or input. In the previous episode, Cynthia walks around Miami and her home with a face full of tears. Those tears were a natural reaction indicating that something was deeply wrong in their relationship. Everyone knows that money problems are the most common causes for divorce, but experiencing such major problems prior to the marriage is ridiculous. Financial stability, dependability, and a true partnership are the foundation of a strong marriage. I saw none of this prior to the wedding. So why “put all your financial eggs into one basket” for a man who has yet to commit to you? Cynthia, what are you teaching your child? Throw yourself in a ton of debt for “love”? Throw lavish weddings on a beer budget to save face among Atlanta’s socialite circle? Commit your money to a man and his rogue ideas without discussing your rights as an investor? C’mon Cynthia!

RHOA fans will agree that the only reason why Cynthia married Peter is fear of being alone. As her husband, he offered her nothing but a life of uncertainty. Your problems are still around after the wedding.

In other RHOA news, I think the world is ready for the soul and drama Miss Lawrence offers with his music.  Sheree, who’s going to do your hair? And yes, Target is still hiring. We saw your audition and think Terri was being a great sport to suffer through your lines and offer you some constructive criticism.
