Edd’s MANtra: St. Olaf Goes Hood

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but it bears repeating.

I wish I lived next door to the Golden Girls.

Who wouldn’t want to spend time with a bunch of hilarious, freaky old biddies getting into trouble each and every day? And playa, the food! I bet they have the finest Italian cuisine known to man just lying around the kitchen.

Oddly, their famous cheesecake always looked a little plain and gross. It always looked like it desperately needed some sort of topping – strawberries or chocolate, perhaps.

And speaking of adding a little chocolate to their cheescake, from Rap-Up.com:

Musical guest Jay-Z will join host Betty White on this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live,” and those hoping for a collaboration between the two might just get their wish.

“We thought, ‘This is an interesting mix,’” executive producer Lorne Michaels told Entertainment Weekly about booking the odd couple for “SNL,” before hinting of a possible sketch involving the rapper and 88-year-old actress.

This could be the greatest paring ever. Can you imagine those two performing a spoof of Jay’s “Young Forever?” That could be this generation’s “Amish Paradise.”

But don’t get too excited. Although Michaels said Jay is “excited about the idea” of working with Betty White, call me the eternal skeptic. Jay has been annoyingly selective about who he works with these days (he didn’t even show up in Snoop Dogg’s new video to perform his own verse!). It wouldn’t shock me if he got all uppity at the last minute.

But like Stan Zbornak chasing Dorothy, I’ll continue to hope for the best. The thought of Rose dissing Jay in a freestyle battle with her own version of “Ether” is too good to pass up.

Check them out this weekend on SNL.
