Flashback Friday: Heather Headley and Chaka Khan
It’s been a rough week here in the states, so this Friday has been a sight for sore eyes. Gotta turn to the healing power of music when times get rough.
Heather Headley, This is Who I Am (2002)
Talk about an unappreciated artist – Heather Headley has two gold albums, one of which topped the R&B charts; a couple of No. 1 R&B singles; years of success on Broadway; and a Tony award. It’s time we give her some well-deserved flowers. Let’s start with her overlooked 2002 debut, which was filled with strong ballads.

Chaka Khan, I Feel For You (1984)
Don’t talk to me about “legendary artists” and “classic albums” if Chaka’s I Feel For You has never graced your years. Chaka bridged the gap between disco and soul, helping to reinvent its sound for the 80s. And this album is arguably her peak.
