Product Review: Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream

I am on a quest for fifth day hair, in search of products that will allow me to go an entire work week without washing and combing my hair. Last week I tried a product I never had before  –Curly Curl Cream by Taliah Waajid  — hoping it would help me on this project.

After cleansing my hair with Aussie Moist Shampoo and conditioning with Aussie Moist Conditioner I combed Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie through my tresses and then applied the Curly Curl Cream. My hair looked great. See how happy I was with it:

On day two I used the Curly Curl Cream on dry hair to try to control frizz and keep my curls defined and my hair looked pretty good. I did the same on day three. My hair wasn’t necessarily fabulous, but it was decent. Unfortunately, I did notice a sticky build-up by day three, something that wasn’t an issue on the first or second day. By day four, though, my hair looked a hot mess. Even hubs, after I gave up and washed my hair, said, “Wow, your hair looks so much better today.” Thanks, a lot.

So my first attempt at fifth day hair failed, but at least I have a new frizz control product that also serves as a great refresher, at least for a couple of days.

  1. I’ve found that using cream products on 2nd day hair causes more frizz. To get second day hair these days I put coconut oil on my hair. And pull my hair all the way on top on my head using a headband scrunchy making a bun on top. That way my hair isn’t loose at all while I sleep and I don’t lay on it.

Few days ago I did a braid out on frizzy rained on first day hair in order to get 2nd day hair. I plan to try 3rd day hair this weekend by doing a braidout on my 2nd day hair.

  2. Use Curl Potions line by Hairnamics! I never has a good defined wash n go til I used their products. The “Curl Pop”, seals moisture for days, “Curl Lock” defines curls and “Curl Hold” keeps’em defined for days. Love it & my hair is 4b. You can get them on their site: http://www.hairnamics.com. Oh and their hair vitamins got me 16 inches new growth!

  3. I use this product religiously. I love it.. but I have found that just spritzing my hair with water a little and re twisting on day 3 or 4, it looks great. It’s best to use on damp hair. My hair is 4cdefghi (joke). LOL! But it is kinky to the gods. This is the only product that gets the job done for me. For my edges though, I use Cantu. Curly cream doesnt last long for the edges. The sticky build up comes from using too much or applying more ontop of what’s already there. That’s just in my case. Maybe if you tweak your process you’ll find it is a phenomenal product. Best of luck!!
