Flashback Friday: FKA Twigs and Al B. Sure
It’s almost here – finally time to fall into the loving embrace of the weekend.
I’m talking the end of the week, not the whiny guy with the broccoli haircut.
Here’s what’s on our playlist.
FKA Twigs, LP1 (2014)
I’m all for embracing traditional R&B, but I’m always excited when an artist stretches the genre’s boundaries. Enter FKA Twigs, whose 2014 debut is a bizarre cocktail of R&B, electronica and hip-hop. And it WORKS. This album was a critical darling in ’14 but, typically, missed many mainstream ears. Catch up now.

Everyone remembers “Nite and Day” and Al B.’s triple platinum debut In Effect Mode but don’t sleep on his sophomore effort, which has its share of memorable singles too. Back in 1990 New Jack Swing was still in riding high and Al B rode that wave to yet another gold certification.
