Flashback Friday: Remembering Earth, Wind & Fire Icon Maurice White
Losing Earth, Wind & Fire founder Maurice White feels like losing your favorite uncle.
His voice was the magic of every family gathering, lightening the mood no matter the atmosphere. He brought us lessons of love and life — on the surface, he seemed all about good times and having fun, but listen deeply and you’ll hear decades of wisdom and insight. He spoke the language of the old folks yet was so impossibly cool that even the young’ns were captivated by his energy.
Maurice White was an icon in every sense of the word. And he was part of our family.
Every Friday we look back at some of our favorite moments in music. It’s only right to dedicate the day to Maurice White’s brilliance — both with EWF and his work with other artists. Feel free to share your favorites.
We’ll never forget the 21st night of September, nor any other day he serenaded us. Rest well.
Now, it’s your turn. Email soulinstereoblog@gmail.com hit me up on Twitter @etbowser, or stop by the comments section and share your Flashback Friday album. Leave a couple of sentences describing what makes it so great. I’ll feature your album on the blog.
This was perfect and really made me smile. Maurice White really did feel like family. His creativity changed the lives of many through music and he will be missed.
