Flashback Friday: DMX and Rampage
Earlier this week, DMX dropped his eighth album, Redemption of the Beast. And good lord, it was a mess.
To cleanse your palate, let’s look back at the glory days of the dog and one of his album co-stars.
DMX, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood (1998)
Six months after dropping his certified classic debut, DMX turned right around and released this album. Most times, when we get two albums in one year the results are unimpressive (hey, Rick Rawse) but Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood was pretty solid. Plus, it gave us “Slippin,” one of X’s best tracks.

Rampage, Scout’s Honor … By Way of Blood (1997)
Rampage had completely slipped my mind until I heard him on the new DMX album. It’s a shame that his legacy has been limited to being the fifth wheel on the “Flava In Ya Ear” remix, he’s actually a formidable MC. His debut album was one of 1997’s better offerings, thanks to production from DJ Scratch.
