Flashback Friday: Danity Kane and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Settle in for your favorite Friday feature playas. It’s time to revisit some great tracks you’ve probably forgotten about.
Allow us to refresh your memory.
Lord help us, Danity Kane is set to appear on Sunday’s MTV Music Awards. Eric Danforth is excited.
Danity Kane, Welcome to the Dollhouse (2008)
Eric said: “Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, Bad Boy Records and its leader Diddy, formerly known as P. Diddy, formerly known as Puffy, formerly known as Puff Daddy formed and managed flocks of successful and game-changing pop & R&B groups and solo artists (and Loon). However, what Diddy giveth, he also quickly let his ego taketh away, and these same groups quickly disbanded and quickly disappeared.
“This was never more tragic than the music Avengers known as Danity Kane. Formed on a season of “Making The Band,” the five-member girl group surprised even the harshest of critics with their debut, self-titled album. Packed with a collection of urban pop gems and the star power of one Aubrey O’ Day, the group quickly shed its reality stigma and took their throne as the best and baddest girl group around.
“It was their sophomore album, Welcome To The Dollhouse, that best demonstrates what the group could have been. From the second Shannon asks us if we have our first-aid kits handy in “Damaged,” to guest feature Missy Elliott proclaiming her “Bad Girl” pride, the first half of this album alone packs more hits than fans at a Keri Hilson appearance at your local Walmart.
“However, it is when the album begins to hit its midway point that it shines. “Sucka For Love” is an up-tempo track with some of the best sickest melodies you have ever heard while “Ecstasy” is so sensual and flawless that not even a Rick Ross appearance can kill its vibe.
“Miraculously, the saviors of all that is music have reunited (minus D Woods) and have begun launching a comeback for late 2013/early 2014. If the new album is even half as good as Welcome To The Dollhouse we will all need to head to the CVS to clear out the Band-Aids.”

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Creepin on ah Come Up (1994)
Edd said: “When Bone Thugs surfaced in the mid-90s, they were like nothing we had heard before. Soulful, rugged and raps spit at the speed of light, these were the sounds of my childhood. Twenty years later, they’re still in a league of their own.”
