We’re already a month into 2023, but how do you think the rest of the year will go?

Glad you asked, because it’s time for the first ever Soul In Stereo 2023 Crystal Ball Prediction Contest!

Here’s how it goes – I went to my social media channels and asked Soul In Stereo readers to make a musical prediction below for 2023. I’ve selected the best and boldest predictions as our finalists. The person whose prediction comes closest to reality will win.

And yes there WILL be a prize.

Now, keep in mind, the predictions MUST be bold. Here’s what I mean:

“Beyonce is going on tour” – that ain’t bold. We knew that was happening.

“Beyonce is going on tour and all members of Destiny’s Child will join her” – now, that’s bold.

Jesica Diggs: H.E.R. will focus more on acting and will debut on Broadway.

Darius Keaton: Frank Ocean is dropping new music and doing a mini film

Gez Miley: Nas and DJ Premier will finally release a joint album on Nas’ 50th birthday.

Vocalz: Jay and Bey will drop and duets album and Jay will finally win another Grammy

Jonathan Bailey: Quavo and Offset make separate albums honoring Takeoff

Futoshi Kanazawa: Beyoncé and Jay Z will divorce and Jay will release an album “Hear My Bae”

Kase Kubrick: Nelly will drop his 4th classic album

Emmanuel Roberson: After the success of New Edition tour, Boyz II Men and Jodeci will do a joint tour together.

Ro melle Dials: How about Dru Hill drops an album called R&B Street Fighter

Cameron Graham: With Rihanna performing at the Super Bowl what if she brings out Sade and leads to an album?

Geraldine Barnett: Jagged EDGE will make the soul in stereo top 50 albums list

AND HOLD ON, I’m making a prediction too: The album of the year will be an R&B album. BUT it will be an album that isn’t celebrated commercially. Think KING’s We are King album in 2016.
