Freebie: Leela James, “Tell Me You Love Me”
Y’all can thank my boy Matt for alerting us to this hookup.
In celebration of Black Music Month, each week in June iTunes will feature a free downloadable single from a black artist.
A free download that won’t give your computer robo-rabies? You can’t beat that.
This week, they’re featuring Leela James’ “Tell Me You Love Me.” Leela might look like the long-lost daughter of Oprah, but her robust, gritty vocals also will remind you of Chaka Khan.
“Tell Me You Love Me” is a nice slice of soul, sort of like an Angie Stone track from the early ’00s. Her new album, appropriately titled My Soul, was released last month.
Definitely download this one. What do you have to lose? It won’t cost you a dime. If you need further convincing, check out her video below.
