Flashback Friday: New Jack City Soundtrack and Soul Food Soundtrack
Who doesn’t love a good 90s soundtrack? This Friday, let’s flash back to the days when movie soundtracks were as good as the era’s best albums.
New Jack City soundtrack (1991)
New Jack City is one of my favorite movies of all time, even though it hasn’t aged all that well. But you know what HAS aged well? This soundtrack is a perfect slice of the New Jack Swing era, which honestly was hitting a downswing by this time. This album helped it go out with a bang.

“I’m Dreamin’,” Christopher Williams
“(There You Go) Tellin’ Me No Again,” Keith Sweat
Soul Food soundtrack (1997)
Great movie, even greater TV series (y’all remember that one?) and a great soundtrack as well. Babyface handled most of the heavy lifting on this one, so success was definitely guaranteed. A project this soulful definitely lived up to its name.

“We’re Not Making Love No More,” Dru Hill
“A Song for Mama,” Boyz II Men
