Flashback Friday: Janet Jackson and Pharoahe Monch
Y’all ready for Friday? Of course you are!
Unless you have to work this weekend. If so, my condolences. I’ve been there.
Ah well, regardless of when you clock in, let’s celebrate good music today.
Janet Jackson, All for You (2001)
Did you catch our breakdown of Janet Jackson’s discography last week? In preparation of the post, I relistened to all 11 of her solo albums and was shocked by how well All for You has held up. It gets lost in the shuffle of the more high-profile releases but this one was a keeper, filled with the pop hits and sultry ballads we love.

DUH DUH DUH DUH
You can’t say Monch’s name without the DUH DUH DUH DUH beat of “Simon Says” jumping into your brain. Easily one of rap’s most overlooked MCs, Monch’s creativity and lyricism are almost unmatched. It’s a shame he’s been so elusive over the years – if not, maybe his debut would be better remembered as the banger it is.
