Flashback Friday: The Weeknd and N.O.R.E.
Hey, playas, it’s Friday!
For some of you, it’s Spring Break. Others may be heading into their Spring Break.
For most of us though, it’s just a regular ol’ work day. Whether you’re working for the man or chillin’ in the sand, here’s some music for your morning.
The Weeknd, Kiss Land (2013)
This guy is full of surprises – news dropped on Thursday that The Weeknd planned to drop his newest album, My Dear Melancholy, on Friday. No singles, no build, no interviews, nothing. I guess he’s gonna let the music speak for itself. While Weeknd is arguably one of the biggest pop stars in the world now, longtime fans like me preferred his early underground work. Here’s hoping My Dear Melancholy feels more like vintage Weeknd, or at least, Kiss Land era Weeknd. His first studio album, went unappreciated at the time – see if it sits better with you today.

NORE, N.O.R.E. (1998)
If you’ve noticed a lot of 1998-era stuff on the site recently, there’s a reason for that. I’m working a big retrospective of the year that will be hitting Soul In Stereo very soon. My research has reminded me of a ton of great albums from that year, including this one that launched Noreaga into solo stardom.
