Guilty Pleasures: Chris Brown, Sensei

heartbreak on a full moon

We all have guilty pleasures, those songs that have no business on our iPods or the tracks we only blast with the windows rolled all the way up in our rides. In this column we share our darkest musical secrets.

Y’all forgive me, my body is still recovering from reviewing my Cousin Chris Brown’s brutally long album. That thing shaved 10 years of my life.

But as I mentioned during that review, in the midst of a never-ending sea of sonic blandness a couple of tracks stood out. One of them was “Sensei.” Make no mistake, by no means is this song GOOD in the traditional sense but the sneaky saxophone on the beat makes the production a joy. Plus it’s clearly a ripoff of Future’s “Mask Off” (another guilty pleasure) so I’m here for it.

I have no idea what Cousin Chris is mumbling about on the vocals, but hey, the beat’s great. Isn’t that all y’all care about these days anyway?
