Flashback Friday: Bahamadia and Pusha T

I don’t know about you, but I have a taste for BARS this fine Friday. If you’re looking for lyrical excellence, these albums won’t let you down.

Bahamadia, Kollage (1996)

In an era where the most notable female rappers are overrated cartoon characters or goofy reality TV stars, we REALLY need a woman like Bahamadia. Her brand of no-frills lyricism might not be trendy but it’s potent. I’ll put this album up against some of the best in hip-hop’s golden era.

Pusha T, King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude (2015)

Where’s the new album, Push? King Push’s latest release landed at the tail end of 2015, with promises of another release to soon follow. That album might still be MIA but it’s never too late to revisit this one – arguably Push’s best solo work to date.
