Flashback Friday: Faith Evans and The Notorious B.I.G.

It’s a pretty big day around these parts – today Faith Evans releases The King and I, her joint album with her iconic former husband Notorious B.I.G. It’s pretty much the dream Soul In Stereo collaboration.

In honor of these two heavyweights we’ve gotta dig through the crates.

something about faith

Faith Evans, Something About Faith (2010)

Faith’s discography is deep, filled with memorable singles and classic albums that still hold up decades later. But of all her releases, I think her fifth album is the most underrated. It may lack blockbuster singles and standout video treatments but no matter – from beginning to end, it’s a satisfying listening experience brimming with strong cuts.

ready to die

The Notorious B.I.G., Ready to Die (1994)

I still remember the first time I heard this album – I was at my boy’s house playing Super Nintendo when he threw on this CD. I could barely pay attention to the game after that; I was too busy hanging on Biggie’s every word. Ready to Die is undoubtedly a classic, an album that no only reshaped the course of rap but strengthened my personal love of hip-hop.
