Flashback Friday: Patti LaBelle and Shalamar
Who’s in the mood for some ’80s R&B? If so, you’ve come to the right place.
And if not, stick around and learn somethin’.
Patti LaBelle, I’m In Love Again (1983)
Y’all can’t tell my Aunt Patti NUTHIN with her Discovery Channel fur on! Patti’s resume is as long as that coat, but when I think of her albums, this is the first that pops to mind. It’s the album that introduced me to her timeless sound and incredible style.

“Lover Man (Oh Where Can You Be?)”
Shalamar, Three for Love (1980)
Shalamar’s fourth album just might be their best. At just eight tracks, R&B’s original supergroup gives us plenty of danceable cuts. Plus, this album features the “classic” group line-up – Jeffrey Daniel, Howard Hewett and Jody Watley are at their best.

Now, it’s your turn. Email soulinstereoblog@gmail.com hit me up on Twitter @etbowser, or stop by the comments section and share your Flashback Friday album. Leave a couple of sentences describing what makes it so great. I’ll feature your album on the blog.
Oh Ed! *Gasp!* please tell me that skipping over “This is (for the lover in you)” was merely an oversight! ’cause dudes could’ve used this song as a lesdon in panty melting once Howard’s vocals were finished with it!
I didn’t skip it playa, it’s right there.
