Flashback Friday: Musiq Soulchild and Big Daddy Kane
So it’s been a cool week here at Soul In Stereo. Both Toni Braxton and Mega Ran shouted us out for pieces we featured recently.
But on the other hand, we had to deal with Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa’s Twitter pillow fight, B.o.B proving he’s a complete idiot (even dragging Neil deGrasse Tyson into his foolishness) and Rihanna dropping another meh album that stans ate up.
Such is life on these here Internets. But I’m just here for the music. Here’s what we’ve got this week.
Musiq Soulchild, Luvandmusiq (2007)
Did you know favorite spelling-challenged soul singer dropped new material this week? “I Do” isn’t bad and leads the way for his new album Life on Earth. Speaking of albums, let’s revisit the last Musiq album I really enjoyed, his ’07 entry Luvandmusiq. It was a fun balance of ballads and upbeat numbers.

Big Daddy Kane, It’s A Big Daddy Thing (1989)

Kane essentially was the inventor of rap swag, bragging about women and excess way before it became cliche. Best of all, he had the rhymes and impeccable delivery to back up everything he claimed.
