Flashback Friday: Silk and Avant
Happy Friday! Hope you’re in the mood for some R&B, you know I am. Here are a couple heaters to get you through your day.
Silk, Tonight (1999)
Y’all know my Keith Sweat bias is pretty pronounced, but even the biggest hater can’t deny that the man had an ear for talent. King Keef introduced the world to Silk way back in the early 90s but one could make a case that this, their third studio album, was their best.

Avant, My Thoughts (2000)
Avant plans to drop his latest LP soon, so why not revisit his introduction? My Thoughts seemingly came out of nowhere in 2000, producing hot single after hot single and solidifying Avant as one of the most consistent voices of the decade. He couldn’t ask for a better debut.

Now, it’s your turn. Email soulinstereoblog@gmail.com hit me up on Twitter @etbowser, or stop by the comments section and share your Flashback Friday album. Leave a couple of sentences describing what makes it so great. I’ll feature your album on the blog.
Silk is amazing! My favorite song is Freak Me. I miss the R&B soul music of the 90s something fierce!
I actually found your blog after Googling “Whatever happened to Shanice?” I recently heard her song “Forever For You” for the first time in years! Brought back good memories.
Anyway, I love your blog! It is fantastic!
