Flashback Friday: Lil Wayne and Common
This Friday, let’s take a trip back to 2005, which gave us quite a few strong rap albums. Don’t believe me? Just watch.
Lil Wayne, Tha Carter II (2005)
Playa, Wayne has been riding the popularity of this album for TEN YEARS now. Geez. Nothing he has released in the past decade has equaled the potential shown here. Word is that his infamous Free Weezy album is set to drop next week. If that happens and it’s half as good as this album, I’ll finally cuz Wayne some slack. Maybe.
Also check out:
Common, Be (2005)
Common has given us so many strong albums that it’s pretty tough to pick his best work. If Be isn’t his best, it’s certainly my favorite. It’s just 11 tracks long, but loaded with so much soul and substance. Common is an elite artist, and Be is one of his shining accomplishments.
