Charmayne ‘Maxee’ Maxwell of Brownstone Dies From Fall

Charmayne Maxwell of the ’90s R&B group Brownstone has died, TMZ reports. The singer reportedly suffered a fatal fall in Denmark on Saturday.

According to a Danish media outlet, Maxwell was attending a soccer game when she fell. Her death has been described as an “accident,” though according to unnamed sources, family members are looking into whether she committed suicide.

Family members have since dismissed reports of suicide and instead are calling it a tragic accident.

Brownstone was one of the best R&B groups of the ’90s, thanks to their church-honed harmonies and spirited performances. There has been talk of a reunion for years, but nothing came to fruition.

Maxee is survived by her husband, superstar producer Carsten Schack, better known as Soulshock of the duo Soulshock & Karlin. That pair produced some of the best songs of the 90s, including Brandy’s “Brokenhearted” remix, Monica’s “Before You Walk Out of My Life,” Toni Braxton’s “I Love Me Some Him” and 2pac’s “I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto.”
