Underrated Christmas Songs, Day 24: Mary J. Blige, “Little Drummer Boy”

Every year at Soul In Stereo, we spent 25 days featuring our favorite holiday songs. But this year, we’re featuring the 25 most underrated Christmas songs — those songs that bring back wonderful memories, yet few people seem to know them. Let’s give those songs the shine they deserve.

It’s Christmas Eve and I’m trying to get on Santa’s good list, so let me be honest — “Little Drummer Boy” is one of my least favorite Christmas songs. I’m not sure why, but it’s probably all those annoying “pa rum pum pum pums.” But I’ve gotta give props to Mary J, whose version is by far my favorite.
