Jimmy Ruffin, Legendary Soul Singer, Dies at 78

Another soul legend is flying with the angels. From TMZ.com:

Jimmy Ruffin, the crooner who was a staple in Motown for decades, has passed away at the age of 78.

Ruffin reached legendary Motown status in 1966 with his hit “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted.”

Jimmy,  the older brother of David Ruffin of The Temptations, dominated the late 60s with his R&B hits. He even had a bit of a comeback in the early 80s with “Hold On (To My Love).”

For me, “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” is a huge nostalgia trip — it reminds me of listening to my mom’s old soul cassettes, which led the way for my current music fandom.
