Flashback Friday: Fat Joe and Michel’le
It’s Friday and, around my way, it’s starting to feel like fall — the best time of the year.
Here’s what we’ve got spinning to mark the occassion.
Fat Joe, Loyalty (2002)
Fat Joe’s albums never get enough love, and while his 2002 effort wasn’t his best it’s probably the one that got the most play in the ride. When Joey is focused, he’s as potent as any rapper in the game — and he’s awfully good at those soul-bearing tracks as well.

Michel’le (1989)
Michel’le NEVER gets enough love for pioneering R&B. Mary J. Blige and Jodeci are credited with blending hip-hop with their soulful records but it was Michel’le who laid that groundwork. She wasn’t just about danceable club tracks though – Michel’le’s ballads were always heavyweight contenders.
