25 Songs of Christmas: Patti LaBelle, T’was Love
Here at Soul In Stereo, we’re counting down to Christmas by featuring our favorite holiday tracks. Here’s today’s Christmas classic:
Eleven months out of the year, I’m all about Keith Sweat. But during this special time of year, there’s only one name I say:
“Patti, Patti.”
I literally grew up listening to Patti LaBelle’s 1990 Christmas album. I know every note, every ad-lib, and to my wifey’s dismay, every SCREAM. And there’s a ton of SCREAMING.
Speaking of screaming, the first note Patti hits on “T’was Love,” my favorite track from her Christmas album, sounds something like this:
aaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUHUHUHUHUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (AH-AH-AH)
Poor Javacia has had to hear me “hit” that “note” every other day this month.
At Soul In Stereo studios, it ain’t Christmas unless Patti is yelling in your ears.
